Cultural Bridge
The Genesis ofJUAAB
Initiated by the Information and Cultural Section of the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, JUAAB was founded with a shared vision to unite Bangladeshi graduates of Japanese universities. What began as an informal dialogue among distinguished scholars gradually evolved into a respected organization dedicated to strengthening academic cooperation, cultural understanding, and lasting friendship between Bangladesh and Japan.
A vision shared by alumni became an enduring bridge connecting two nations through education, culture, and collaboration.

Foundational Timeline
Chronological progression of JUAAB’s conceptualization and drafting period.
The Initial Gathering
A group of visionary Bangladeshi nationals who earned academic degrees from Japanese universities gathered at a Korean restaurant in Gulshan, Dhaka. Recognizing the need to strengthen cultural and academic relations, they volunteered to form an ad-hoc committee. Prof. Alauddin Ahmed was appointed as the convener to draft the constitution.
The Public Declaration
The intention to create JUAAB was officially announced at a dinner hosted by the Embassy of Japan for Monbusho scholars at the Sajna Restaurant in Gulshan. The assembled scholars enthusiastically endorsed the initiative, setting a strict six-month timeframe.
Drafting the Constitution
With Prof. Ishtiaq Mahmud serving as the Member Secretary, the ad-hoc committee met eight times to meticulously draft and scrutinize the Constitution based on feedback from potential members.
Unanimous Adoption
During the 9th meeting of the ad-hoc committee, the Constitution was finalized and adopted in the presence of Mr. Yasuhiko Tanaka, Director of the Information and Cultural Section of the Embassy of Japan. A Council of Advisers and an Election Commission were established.
The First Executive Committee
The historic first Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election were held, officially handing over the leadership and responsibilities of the association to its first elected Executive Committee.
